Project Description

Elderly disabled widow lady living in 14’ x 80’ mobile home has several bad roof leaks. Lives next to her son and daughter. Son not able to make repairs on his own, but can help. Neither can afford the contractor cost at this time. Roof surface area is approx 20’ x 80’. Constructed of aluminum with painted-on rubberized coating. The coating is old, cracked, peeling with holes in it. Water seeps under coating and runs through seams in aluminum sheets, down into home ceiling. Has caused ceiling damage in a few areas that need to be painted with Kilz (inside home).

Top should be swept clean, removing all debris from roof edge (small guttering). Using scrapers and utility knives, all damaged patches of coating will need to be removed so that no edges are sticking up. After prepped so that all old coating edges are flat and surface is clean, brush and roll on rubberized Henry Solarflex 287 white rubberized roof coating. $75 per 5 gallon bucket at Home Depot. Will likely need 5 buckets. Owner said she could pay for the coating material.

Roof is structurally sound, but not made to support a lot of weight. Workers less than 200 lbs would be best! Be very careful climbing ladders and using utility knives.

Of secondary priority is some rotted trim wood around two of the windows that could be replaced and repainted.
