Project Description

Elderly widow (almost 90, poor health, husband died in 1998) living in small, old house in south Denison. She has a great-niece that occasionally stays at the house with her, but otherwise lives alone. She has a roof leak above her washing machine in the utility room area. A 3’x3’ piece of the ceiling sheetrock has collapsed and fallen, and is hanging off the ceiling light. One small section of roof decking and rafters is rotted, just under the rolled roofing material at this spot. Needs the roofing material removed (about 120 sf), the wood repaired (8’ 2x6 and ½” plywood), and new tar paper and white rolled roofing installed along with some metal flashing on one edge.  The piece of ceiling sheetrock inside the house should be replaced, taped and bedded, and painted.

She also has some siding (wooden, type 105) that is rotted on each side of the front porch, and on the NE corner of the house. Approx 200’ of this siding around the house needs removal and replacement. Add wall insulation behind the new siding when installed. Add metal (flashing) to the lower portion of this wall down to the ground, to seal off the house.

All new wood should be primed and painted white. The rear section of the house (north end) needs to be scraped and painted, as well, but not as high a priority at this time.
