Project Name
10-01-16 Den E
Project Description

90-yr old widow in east Denison needs help installing handrails on two sets of stairs, one at her garage entry (through back door) and at her den entry (from kitchen area). With hip problems and very poor eyesight, she needs something to hold onto while climbing these stairs (several times each day). Also has a leaky faucet on the cold water line to her washer. She has the money to buy the faucet, but not the handrail materials.

Might be able to use 1” to 1 ½” steel piping for the rails. Someone with a welder could customize the angles, make the mounting brackets, and really make it look good. Both sets of steps need the rail on the right side (when ascending), fastened securely to the wall and floor, with a horizontal brace tying it to the side wall for stability. Sand smooth and paint with metal primer and topcoat.

Faucet is threaded, so no tools other then wrenches and thread tape needed.

Wonderful opportunity for a small work team (with the right skill sets) to help a sweet, elderly lady.
